Kentucky Driver License Requirements at-a-glance:

*Sixteen is the minimum age to get a Learner’s Permit
*Six months is the holding period for a Learner ‘s Permit
*Supervised driving must be done for a minimum of 60 hours; 10 of those hours should be done at night
*Road Test is required
*No unsupervised driving prohibitions
*Only one non-relative younger than 20 can be carried by a licensed minor
*Between 12 midnight and 6 am, licensed minors are not allowed to drive unless they are supervised by a driver who is 21-years-old or older.

Step 1: Use our free practice tests to prepare for the Kentucky online drivers ed written exam.
Step 2: Schedule an appointment at a driver’s license office to sit for the written exam (you can simply show up at the office but be prepared to wait for a while).
Step 3: Take the Written Exam.
Step 4: Use the Learner’s Permit to practice driving.
Step 5: Take the DMV Driving Examination
