Nothing dramatic.
Seriously.
A lot of people expect some big moment after they finish driver's ed. You don't suddenly become an amazing driver. You don't suddenly know everything.
You just keep going.
I remember being surprised by that.
I thought finishing driver's ed meant I was basically ready.
Then I had to drive somewhere by myself.
Not far. Just a normal trip.
But it felt completely different when nobody was explaining things and nobody was telling me what was coming next.
That's when I realized the course teaches you the rules, but experience teaches you how to drive.
After driver's ed, you'll spend more time behind the wheel.
You'll drive on roads you know.
Then roads you don't.
You'll make a wrong turn somewhere.
You'll park badly.
You'll get better.
That's pretty much how it happens for everyone.
If you completed Virginia drivers ed online or a Virginia homeschool driver education course, keep your paperwork somewhere safe. Future you will probably need it.
Then keep driving.
Not because someone told you to.
Because that's the only way driving starts to feel normal.
Nobody becomes comfortable behind the wheel from a course alone.
It happens one trip at a time.
Usually without you even noticing.
