    If you're 18 to under 21, you’ll need to finish either that same 30-hour course or take a 4-hour “prequalification” driver awareness program approved by the DMV.

  4. Supervised Driving Log Requirements
    To move from a learner permit to a full driver license, minors must log 50 hours of driving under supervision, and 10 of those hours must be at night. The law even clarifies who can sign off on that driving log (parent, guardian, or a responsible adult) so the DMV has standardized, verified proof. 

  5. Stricter Instructor Vetting
    Driving instructors will face more scrutiny: the law requires commercial driving schools to run fingerprint-based criminal background checks, and anyone convicted of certain violent or sexual crimes will be barred from teaching behind-the-wheel to minors.
