Do you know if I can do my behind-the-wheel training with my mother or father instead of attending a driving school like Sears Driving Schoo?
Some states allow teen-agers to do their driver training with their parents instead of attending a professional driver training school.  We recommend that you contact the Oregon DMV or Sears Driving Schoo directly to find out if Oregon allows parent-taught driver training.

Considering you're a brand new driver, you probably don't know a whole lot about driving ANY type of vehicle, be it a stick OR an automatic!  Nevertheless, if you have a preference, you probably should contact Sears Driving Schoo and see if they can accommodate you before registering for their behind-the-wheel training course.
Since I live way out in a rural area where driving on dirt roads and bumpy terrain is the norm, will Sears Driving Schoo be able to teach me how to drive in a non-urban environment? Or do they only prepare you for city-driving?
Since you live in a rural area, odds are that any local driving school in your area such as Sears Driving Schoo will want you to be able to drive safely on dirt roads and rugged terrain.  We recommend that you contact Sears Driving Schoo directly to find out exactly what they offer.
After I turn 14, will I be eligible to obtain my learner's permit so I can begin to learn how to drive?
It depends on which state you live in, however most states unfortunately require you to be at least 15 (or sometimes 15 1/2) before you can be issued a learner's permit.  We suggest that you contact a local driver training school such as Sears Driving Schoo or the Oregon DMV office to learn more about the minimum age requirement for driving in Oregon.
