Although we include City Driving School in our directory of driving schools for San Francisco California, we cannot make any assurances about whether or not City Driving School is licensed by the California DMV.  You should contact City Driving School directly and ask them if you are thinking about signing up to take their San Francisco California driver training class.
I've been told that either of my parents can monitor my driver training, so I don't have to attend a San Francisco California driving school like City Driving School to fulfill my behind-the-wheel training requirement. Do you know if that's true or not?
You will need to contact the California DMV or a state-approved driver training school like City Driving School to find out.  Some states do allow parent-taught driving, but many states do not.
Do you know if City Driving School will let me complete my driver training using an automatic-shift vehicle? I don't know anything about using a manual-shift.
Considering you're a brand new driver, you probably don't know a whole lot about driving ANY type of vehicle, be it a manual OR an automatic!  Nevertheless, if you have a preference, you probably should contact City Driving School and see if they can accommodate you before registering for their driver training course.
The area in which I live is mostly undeveloped--very few paved roads and mountains are all around. Will City Driving School be able to teach me how to drive safely on rugged terrain as well as in a city or town?
Considering that you live in a remote area, chances are excellent that a local driving school like City Driving School will want you to be able to drive safely on unpaved roads and other types of bumpy terrain.  You may wish to contact City Driving School to find out exactly what their behind-the-wheel training course includes before signing up to take their training course.
After I turn 14, will I be eligible to get my learner's permit so I can begin to learn how to drive?
It depends on which state you live in, however most states unfortunately require you to be at least 15 (or sometimes 15 1/2) before you can be issued a learner's permit.  We suggest that you contact a local driver training school such as City Driving School or the California DMV office to learn more about the minimum age requirement for driving in California.
Do you know if the laws in California require new teen-aged drivers to successfully complete a driver training course in addition to a driver ed classroom or online course?
The laws vary from state to state, but many states do require you to take a driver training course with "hands-on" practice in addition to a driver ed classroom or online course.
