Golden State Driving SchoolFAQ's

Is Golden State Driving School a certified driving school in California?
Just because a driving school appears on our directory of driver training institutions, we cannot guarantee that they are fully licensed to offer behind-the-wheel training courses in California.  We highly recommend that you contact Golden State Driving School directly or the California DMV to find out for sure if Golden State Driving School offers behind-the-wheel training courses that have been approved by the State of California.
Do you know if I can complete my behind-the-wheel training with my mother or father instead of attending a driving school like Golden State Driving School?
Some states allow teen-agers to do their driver training with their parents instead of attending a professional driving school.  We recommend that you contact the California DMV or Golden State Driving School directly to find out if California allows parent-taught driver training.
I don't know how to drive using a stick-shift. Will Golden State Driving School have an automatic-shift car available that I can use for my driver training?
Since you're enrolling in a Los Angeles California behind-the-wheel training class, chances are good that you don't know how to drive either a stick-shift OR an automatic!  However, you should let Golden State Driving School know what your preference is before enrolling in their driver class.  That way you'll know for sure they will accommodate you.
Since I live way out in a rural area where driving on dirt roads and bumpy terrain is the norm, will Golden State Driving School be able to teach me how to drive in a non-urban environment? Or do they only prepare you for city-driving?
Since you live in the country, odds are that any local driving school in your area such as Golden State Driving School will want you to be able to drive safely on dirt roads and bumpy terrain.  We recommend that you contact Golden State Driving School directly to find out exactly what they offer.
If I'm 14, can I get an instruction permit to drive in California?
Possibly.  However, you should be aware that most states require you to be at least 15½ years old before you can get an instruction permit.  We recommend that you contact the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a certified driving school such as Golden State Driving School to find out exactly what the minimum age requirement is in California.
Is taking a drivers education course in a classroom or online sufficient in Los Angeles California or do I also have to enroll in a behind-the-wheel training class with a professional driving instructor?
It depends on what the California's laws require, but many states do mandate that new, young drivers to register for a driver training class with a professional driving instructor as well as a drivers education classroom or online course.
California law says that I must enroll in a behind-the-wheel training course in order to get licensed to drive in Los Angeles California. Is this something that Golden State Driving School can help me with?
Yes, Golden State Driving School offers the California-approved behind-the-wheel training course.  For more information about their classes and instruction schedule, please contact Golden State Driving School directly.
What type of driver ed do I need before California will give me a driver's license?
Each state has its own requirements concerning drivers education, although you should know that most states now require all new, young drivers to complete a safe driving classroom or online course as well as a behind-the-wheel training course.  Golden State Driving School may be able to help you meet the driver training requirement in California.  Please contact either Golden State Driving School or the California DMV for more information.
What are the laws in California concerning driver training courses? Do I have to take one to get my driver's license?

Is it all right if I register with a behind-the-wheel training school like Golden State Driving School prior to my obtaining my instruction permit?
