Can you tell me if Reliable Driving School is a licensed driver training school in New York?
Although Reliable Driving School is listed on our list of driving schools in your area, we are unable to say with certainty as to whether they are currently approved to teach hands-on driving courses in New York.  We recommend either calling Reliable Driving School directly or the New York DMV to find out whether or not Reliable Driving School offers hands-on driving courses that are state-approved.
Somebody told me that I can skip out of attending a driver training school if my parents give me behind-the-wheel training instead. Is that permissible in New York?
Each state has its own rules regarding behind-the-wheel training.  Some states will allow parentally-supervised driver training as a substitute for attending a behind-the-wheel training course which is taught by a professional driving instructor.  However, not all states allow this.  You should contact the New York DMV to find out for sure.
What if I don't know how to drive a stick-shift automobile? Does Reliable Driving School have automatic-shift vehicles that I can drive when I do my driver training?
If you're taking a Port Jervis New York driver training class, chances are you don't know how to drive ANY vehicle yet-- manual or automatic.  However, if you prefer an automatic vehicle then you should tell Reliable Driving School that prior to signing up to take the course in order to make sure they can accommodate you.
What happens to those of us who live in a remote area? Will Reliable Driving School include instruction on how to drive on dirt roads, mountain roads, and other rugged?
If you live in a remote location, there is a high probability that a local driver training school like Reliable Driving School will either want--or even be required--to tailor their instruction towards driving safely in your particular locale.
Can I get my New York learner's permit once I turn 14?
Most likely, no.  Most states have set the youngest age to obtain a learner's permit at 15 or 15½.  You may want to contact the New York Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a licensed driver training school like Reliable Driving School to learn more about the minimum age requirement in New York.
Can I take Reliable Driving School's behind-the-wheel training course before taking a Port Jervis New York defensive driving classroom course or online course?
It depends on what New York's laws prescribe.  However, you should know that most states will require teen-aged, first-time drivers to complete both a defensive driving classroom course (which are approximately 30 hours in length, depending on New York's laws) or an approved online course, plus a state-approved behind-the-wheel training course.  We recommend that you contact Reliable Driving School directly to see if they offer either (or both) of these courses.
Does Reliable Driving School provide a hands-on driver training course like the one that is required by the State of New York? I need to register for one in order to obtain my driver license.
