Do you know if I can do my behind-the-wheel training with my mother or father instead of attending a driving school like Driver Awareness Training?
Some states allow teen-agers to complete their behind-the-wheel training with their parents instead of attending a professional driving school.  We recommend that you contact the New York DMV or Driver Awareness Training directly to find out if New York allows parent-taught driver training.
Do you know if Driver Awareness Training will let me take my driver training using an automatic-shift vehicle? I don't know anything about using a manual-shift.
Considering you're a brand new driver, you probably don't know a whole lot about driving ANY type of vehicle, be it a stick OR an automatic!  Nevertheless, if you have a preference, you probably should contact Driver Awareness Training and see if they can accommodate you before registering for their driver training course.
I live in a very remote area, where there are mountains and a lot of unpaved roads. Do you know if Driver Awareness Training teaches students how to drive in rural areas like where I live instead of just driving on smooth, paved roads in urban areas?
Since you live in a remote area, a local driving school such as Driver Awareness Training will tailor your driver training to handle the conditions in your area.
After I turn 14, will I be eligible to get my learner's permit so I can begin to learn how to drive?
It depends on which state you live in, however most states unfortunately require you to be at least 15 (or sometimes 15 1/2) before you can be issued a instruction permit.  We suggest that you contact a local driver training school such as Driver Awareness Training or the New York DMV office to learn more about the minimum age requirement for driving in New York.
Is taking a drivers education course in a classroom or online sufficient in Rochester New York or do I also have to take a driver training class with a professional driving instructor?
It depends on what the New York's laws require, but many states do mandate that new, young drivers to enroll in a driver training class with a professional driving instructor as well as a drivers education classroom or online course.
