Are all the driving schools listed on your website fully-licensed by the Illinois DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses in Illinois?
The driving school directory on our website is for your convenience only, and we cannot absolutely guarantee that every driving school listed is currently accredited to offer behind-the-wheel training courses in Illinois.  We suggest you contact the Illinois DMV to make sure a particular driver training school is licensed before you enroll in their driving course.
Do you know if I can complete my behind-the-wheel training with my mother or father instead of attending a behind-the-wheel training course like the ones offered by Salas?
Some states allow teen-agers to complete their driver training with their parents instead of attending a professional driving school.  We recommend that you contact the Illinois DMV or Salas directly to find out if Illinois allows parent-taught behind-the-wheel training.
I can't operate a manual-shift. Will Salas allow me to do my behind-the-wheel training on an automatic-shift vehicle?
We recommend that you contact Salas and ask them if you can do your behind-the-wheel training using a vehicle that has an automatic shift before enrolling in their behind-the-wheel training course.
I live out in the middle of nowhere. There are rural and mountain roads all around. Will Salas teach me how to drive in BOTH rural AND city areas?
If you live in a rural or mountain area, chances are that a local driving instruction institute like Salas will include driving lessons specifically tailored to that terrain.
Now that I'm 14, will Illinois allow me to get an instruction permit to drive?
Not likely.  Most states require residents to be at least 15 or 15 1/2 years old before applying for an instruction permit.  We recommend that your contact the Illinois DMV office or a Illinois-approved driving school such as Salas to learn more about the minimum driving age requirement in Illinois.
Do you know if the laws in Illinois require new teen-aged drivers to take a driver training course in addition to a driver ed classroom or online course?
The laws vary from state to state, but many states do require you to successfully complete a behind-the-wheel training course with "hands-on" practice in addition to a driver ed classroom or online course.
I am looking to sign up to take a Chicago Illinois defensive driving course. Can Salas assist me with this?
Yes.  defensive driving courses are available in Chicago Illinois through Salas.  Please contact Salas directly with questions regarding their schedule of classes and registration information.
I live in Chicago Illinois. What requirements must I meet to be able to get my first Illinois driver's license?
It depends on the particular laws of Illinois, but most states require teen-aged first-time license applicants to successfully complete both a drivers education classroom course and a behind-the-wheel training course.  Salas may offer courses which would meet the behind-the-wheel training requirement, however you will need to contact them directly to find out exactly what types of courses they offer.
Is there a law in Illinois that says I have to take driver training in order to get my driver's license?
Yes.  State law in Illinois mandates that all teen-agers enroll in an approved behind-the-wheel training course before receiving a Illinois driver's license.
Can I sign up to take a Illinois-certified behind-the-wheel training course even if I don't have my Illinois learners permit yet?
Most likely, no.  Most states have laws that mandate a pre-licensed driver to have obtained a Illinois instruction permit before registering in a Illinois driver training course.  It would be best for you to contact a driving school such as Salas and ask for more information.
