Stop & Go Defensive DrivingFAQ's

Stop & Go Defensive Driving's address and phone number is listed on your webpage. How can I know for sure if it is a licensed driver training school in Texas?
Even though we provide a list of driver training schools on our website, we have no way of knowing for sure as to whether or not a particular school is certified by the Texas DMV to offer driver training courses.  We strongly suggest that you contact Stop & Go Defensive Driving directly or check with the Texas DMV to find out for sure if Stop & Go Defensive Driving is a licensed school.
Do you know if I can do my driver training with my mother or father instead of attending a driving school like Stop & Go Defensive Driving?
Some states allow teen-agers to do their behind-the-wheel training with their parents instead of attending a professional driver training school.  We recommend that you contact the Texas DMV or Stop & Go Defensive Driving directly to find out if Texas allows parent-taught driver training.
I don't know how to drive using a manual-shift. Will Stop & Go Defensive Driving have an automatic-shift car available that I can use for my behind-the-wheel training?
Since you're enrolling in a Houston Texas behind-the-wheel training class, chances are good that you don't know how to drive either a manual-shift OR an automatic!  However, you should let Stop & Go Defensive Driving know what your preference is before registering for their driver class.  That way you'll know for sure they will accommodate you.
Since I live way out in a remote location where driving on dirt roads and bumpy terrain is the norm, will Stop & Go Defensive Driving be able to teach me how to drive in a non-urban environment? Or do they only prepare you for city-driving?
Since you live in a remote location, odds are that any local driving school in your area such as Stop & Go Defensive Driving will want you to be able to drive safely on dirt roads and rugged terrain.  We recommend that you contact Stop & Go Defensive Driving directly to find out exactly what they offer.
I just turned 14 years old. Can I receive my instruction permit in Texas?
Probably not.  The minimum age requirement for holding an instruction permit in most states is 15 1/2.  You should contact the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a licensed driver training institute such as Stop & Go Defensive Driving to find out more information about the minimum age requirement in Texas.
Do I have to take both a drivers education classroom course and a driver training course in Houston Texas to get my Texas driver's license?
The laws vary depending on which state you live in, but most states do require that pre-licensed drivers sign up to take a drivers education classroom course and a behind-the-wheel training course.  You may want to call a driving instruction company like Stop & Go Defensive Driving and find out if they offer either (or both) of these programs.
