MT Driving SchoolFAQ's

Can you tell me if MT Driving School is a licensed driving school in Texas?
Although MT Driving School is listed on our list of driving schools in your area, we are unable to say with certainty as to whether they are currently licensed to teach behind-the-wheel training courses in Texas.  We recommend either calling MT Driving School directly or the Texas DMV to find out whether or not MT Driving School offers behind-the-wheel training courses that are state-approved.
I've been told that either of my parents can monitor my driver training, so I don't have to attend a Houston Texas driving school like MT Driving School to fulfill my driver training requirement. Do you know if that's true or not?
You will need to contact the Texas DMV or a state-approved driving school like MT Driving School to find out.  Some states do allow parent-taught driving, but many states do not.
I have no clue how to drive a stick-shift vehicle. What happens if MT Driving School makes me train on a manual-shift vehicle?
Considering the fact you are a brand new driver, you probably don't know much about operating ANY type of vehicle....manual OR automatic!  If you prefer to do your behind-the-wheel training with an automatic-shift vehicle, you may want to call MT Driving School and let them know before you sign up to take their driver training course.  That way you'll know for sure whether MT Driving School will be able to accommodate you before you pay them any money.
Since I live way out in the country where driving on dirt roads and bumpy terrain is the norm, will MT Driving School be able to teach me how to drive in a non-urban environment? Or do they only prepare you for city-driving?
Since you live in a remote location, odds are that any local driving school in your area such as MT Driving School will want you to be able to drive safely on unpaved roads and rugged terrain.  We recommend that you contact MT Driving School directly to find out exactly what they offer.
Are 14-year-olds permitted to apply for a instruction permit in Texas?
Although a few states allow teen-agers to begin practicing how to drive at 14, most states have set the youngest age for which to receive an instruction permit at either 15 or 15½.  You will need to contact the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a licensed driving school like MT Driving School to find out what the minimum age for driving is in Texas.
Is taking a drivers education course in a classroom or online sufficient in Houston Texas or do I also have to take a behind-the-wheel training class with a professional driving instructor?
It depends on what the Texas's laws require, but many states do mandate that new, young drivers to enroll in a behind-the-wheel training class with a professional driving instructor as well as a drivers education classroom or online course.
Texas law says that I must enroll in a behind-the-wheel training course in order to get licensed to drive in Houston Texas. Is this something that MT Driving School can help me with?
Yes, MT Driving School offers the Texas-approved hands-on driver training course.  For more information about their classes and instruction schedule, please contact MT Driving School directly.
How do I get a drivers license in Houston Texas?
In most states, pre-licensed teens are required to complete both a classroom safe driving course and a behind-the-wheel training course.  MT Driving School may be able to help you fulfill the behind-the-wheel training portion in Texas.
Is there a law in Texas that says I have to take driver training in order to get my driver's license?
Yes.  State law in Texas requires that all teen-agers take an approved behind-the-wheel training course before receiving a Texas driver's license.
Can I sign up to take a Texas-certified driver training course even if I don't have my Texas learners permit yet?
Most likely, no.  Most states have laws that mandate a pre-licensed driver to have obtained a Texas instruction permit before registering in a Texas behind-the-wheel training course.  It would be best for you to contact a driving school such as MT Driving School and ask for more information.
