Street Smart Driving AcademyFAQ's

Is Street Smart Driving Academy a licensed driving school in Virginia?
Just because a driving school appears on our directory of driver training institutions, we cannot guarantee that they are fully licensed to offer behind-the-wheel training courses in Virginia.  We highly recommend that you contact Street Smart Driving Academy directly or the Virginia DMV to find out for sure if Street Smart Driving Academy offers driver training courses that have been approved by the State of Virginia.
Will the Virginia DMV allow my parents to supervise my driving practice instead of requiring me to take a behind-the-wheel training course at a state-approved driving school?
Possibly.  Some states will allow your parents to supervise your driving practice as a substitute to taking a behind-the-wheel driving course with a professional driving instructor.  You will need to contact the Virginia DMV to find out if your behind-the-wheel driving may be done by your parents in Virginia.
What if I don't know how to drive a vehicle with a manual-shift? Does Street Smart Driving Academy have an automatic-shift vehicle they'll let me train with?
Since you're just learning how to drive, you probably don't know how to operate either a stick-shift or an automatic-shift vehicle!  However, if you have a preference as to a stick or an automatic, you probably should call Street Smart Driving Academy to see if they can accommodate your request prior to your signing up to take their driver training course.
I live in a small mountain town, where there are a lot of small, unpaved roads. Will my behind-the-wheel training with Street Smart Driving Academy include being taught how to drive in remote areas? Or do they just offer training for urban driving?
Most local driving schools will likely want their students to be taught how to drive safely in the local area.  Therefore, chances are good that the driver training you receive from Street Smart Driving Academy will include handling dirt roads and mountain driving.
Can I apply for my Virginia learner's permit once I turn 14?
Most likely, no.  Most states have set the youngest age to obtain a learner's permit at 15 or 15½.  You may want to contact the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a certified driving instruction school like Street Smart Driving Academy to learn more about the minimum age requirement in Virginia.
I live in Leesburg Virginia. Does the law say I have to register for both a drivers education classroom or online course and a driver training course in order to be fully-licensed here?
Each state has its own laws in regards to licensing procedures.  However, most states do mandate that new, teen-aged drivers successfully complete both a behind-the-wheel training course plus either a drivers education online course or drivers education classroom course .
I have to take a driver training class in Leesburg Virginia before Virginia will give me my driver's license. Does Street Smart Driving Academy offer this type of course?

What type of driver ed do I need before Virginia will give me a driver's license?

Is there a law in Virginia that requires me to take behind-the-wheel training in order to get my driver's license?
