Rae's Driving SchoolFAQ's

Rae's Driving School's contact information is listed on your webpage. How can I know for sure if it is a licensed driver training school in Connecticut?
Even though we provide a list of behind-the-wheel training schools on our website, we have no way of knowing for sure as to whether or not a particular school is certified by the Connecticut DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses.  We strongly suggest that you contact Rae's Driving School directly or check with the Connecticut DMV to find out for sure if Rae's Driving School is a licensed school.
Could I just have my mother or father teach me how to drive instead of paying money to take a professional behind-the-wheel training course?
It depends on which state you live in.  There are some states which permit you to do your hands-on driver training with a parent or guardian instead of attending a professional driving school.  However many states require that new drivers take a professionally-taught driver training course.  We recommend that you ask your state's DMV office to find out if your parent or guardian can fill the role as your behind-the-wheel driving instructor.
Do you know if Rae's Driving School will let me take my behind-the-wheel training using an automatic-shift vehicle? I don't know anything about using a stick-shift.
Considering you're a brand new driver, you probably don't know a whole lot about driving ANY type of vehicle, be it a stick OR an automatic!  Nevertheless, if you have a preference, you probably should contact Rae's Driving School and see if they can accommodate you before registering for their driver training course.
The area in which I live is mostly undeveloped--very few paved roads and mountains are all around. Will Rae's Driving School be able to teach me how to drive safely on rugged terrain as well as in a city or town?
Considering that you live in a rural area, chances are excellent that a local driving school like Rae's Driving School will want you to be able to drive safely on dirt roads and other types of bumpy terrain.  You may wish to contact Rae's Driving School to find out exactly what their driver training course includes before enrolling in their training course.
Are 14-year-olds permitted to obtain a instruction permit in Connecticut?
Although a few states allow teen-agers to begin practicing how to drive at 14, most states have set the youngest age for which to receive an instruction permit at either 15 or 15½.  You will need to contact the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a licensed driving instruction company like Rae's Driving School to find out what the minimum age for driving is in Connecticut.
Is taking a drivers education course in a classroom or online sufficient in North Haven Connecticut or do I also have to successfully complete a behind-the-wheel training class with a professional driving instructor?
It depends on what the Connecticut's laws require, but many states do mandate that new, young drivers to successfully complete a behind-the-wheel training class with a professional driving instructor as well as a drivers education classroom or online course.
