Delta School of DrivingFAQ's

How do I know if Delta School of Driving is licensed by California's DMV to offer driver training courses?
While we do include Delta School of Driving's contact information in our driving school directory, we cannot say with certainty as to whether Delta School of Driving is certified by the State of California.  We recommend that you either contact Delta School of Driving directly or possibly the California DMV to find out if Delta School of Driving is a licensed driver training school.
Do you know if I can do my behind-the-wheel training with my mother or father instead of attending a driving school like Delta School of Driving?
Some states allow teen-agers to do their driver training with their parents instead of attending a professional driving school.  We recommend that you contact the California DMV or Delta School of Driving directly to find out if California allows parent-taught behind-the-wheel training.
What if I don't know how to operate a vehicle with a manual-shift? Does Delta School of Driving have an automatic-shift vehicle they'll let me train with?
Since you're just learning how to drive, you probably don't know how to operate either a manual-shift or an automatic-shift vehicle!  However, if you have a preference as to a manual or an automatic, you probably should call Delta School of Driving to see if they can accommodate your request prior to your signing up to take their behind-the-wheel training course.
I live out in the middle of nowhere. There are rural and mountain roads all around. Will Delta School of Driving teach me how to drive in BOTH rural AND city areas?
If you live in a rural or mountain town, chances are that a local driving instruction institute like Delta School of Driving will include behind-the-wheel driver training specifically tailored to that terrain.
I'm turning 14 in a few days. Can I get a instruction permit to drive in California after my 14th birthday?
Most likely, no.  Most states (though not all) have laws which require that you be at least 15 or 15 1/2 before to be eligible to apply for an instruction permit.  Nevertheless, you may wish to contact the California DMV office or a California-certified driving school such as Delta School of Driving to find out for certain what the minimum driving age is in your local area.
Do I have to complete a Stockton California drivers education classroom course or online course before signing up to take one of Delta School of Driving's behind-the-wheel training courses?
Each state has its own laws, but most states will require first-time drivers to take both a behind-the-wheel training course plus either a defensive driving classroom course (which are about 30 hours in length) or an approved online defensive driving course.  You may want to ask Delta School of Driving if they offer one or both programs.
I have to register for a driver training class in Stockton California before California will give me my driver's license. Does Delta School of Driving offer this type of course?
Delta School of Driving does offer the behind-the-wheel training course in Stockton California that is required by the State of California.  You will need to contact Delta School of Driving directly for more information about the driver courses they offer and their class schedules.
Do I have to take drivers education to get a California driver's license?
Drivers education requirements vary depending on which state you live in, but you should be aware that most states require new, teen-aged drivers to sign up to take both a driver training course in addition to a safe driving classroom or online course.  You may wish to contact the California DMV to find out exactly what requirements you will need to satisfy in order to obtain your first driver's license.
Is there a law in California that says I have to take behind-the-wheel training in order to get my driver's license?
Yes.  State law in California mandates that all teen-agers enroll in an approved behind-the-wheel training course before receiving a California driver's license.
Will California allow me to enroll in a behind-the-wheel training course before I actually receive my learner's permit?
You will need to contact your state's DMV office to find out.  However, most states require that you receive your instruction permit before you register with a driver training course.
