Winsen Driving SchoolFAQ's

Is Winsen Driving School a licensed driving school in California?
Just because a driving school appears on our directory of driver training institutions, we cannot guarantee that they are fully licensed to offer hands-on driving courses in California.  We highly recommend that you contact Winsen Driving School directly or the California DMV to find out for sure if Winsen Driving School offers hands-on driving courses that have been approved by the State of California.
Somebody told me that I can skip out of attending a driver training school if my parents give me behind-the-wheel training instead. Is that permissible in California?
Each state has its own laws regarding driver training.  Some states will allow parentally-supervised behind-the-wheel training as a substitute for enrolling in a driver training course which is taught by a professional driving instructor.  However, not all states allow this.  You should contact the California DMV to find out for sure.
Do I need to tell Winsen Driving School that I need to train with an automatic-shift car? I don't know how to operate a stick-shift automobile.
Most new drivers don't know how to operate either a manual-shift OR and automatic-shift car!  We recommend that you ask Winsen Driving School if you can complete your behind-the-wheel training using an automatic-shift vehicle before you sign up to take their driver training course.
I live out in the middle of nowhere. There are rural and mountain roads everywhere. Will Winsen Driving School teach me how to drive in BOTH rural AND city areas?
If you live in a rural or mountain town, chances are that a local driving school like Winsen Driving School will include behind-the-wheel driver training specifically tailored to that terrain.
Can I apply for my California instruction permit once I turn 14?
Most likely, no.  Most states have set the youngest age to obtain a learner's permit at 15 or 15½.  You may want to contact the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a certified driver training school like Winsen Driving School to learn more about the minimum age requirement in California.
Do I have to take a Fremont California classroom or online drivers education course before I can enroll in a behind-the-wheel training course through Winsen Driving School?
This requirement varies by state but most states do mandate pre-licensed drivers to take BOTH a classroom-based driver education course (generally 30 hours in length) AND a behind-the-wheel training course.  You should ask Winsen Driving School if they offer one or both programs.
