Guam Driving License Requirements
AGE REQUIREMENTS
If you are over 15 ½ years old, you may qualify for a Guam Driver License. However, any Minor, that is an applicant under the age of 18 years, must have a parent or legal guardian present with them during the initial application process. Minors are required by law to have a parent or legal guardian present with them at the DMV when filling out application forms.
LEARNER PERMITS
A Learner’s permit allows qualified driver license applicants to practice driving on public streets and highways under the condition of having an accompanied licensed driver. There is no exception to this rule, learner’s permit holders are required by law to have a licensed driver present with them at all times when driving.
Types of Driver Licenses
Operator Driver License: Issued to drivers who operate a four-wheel vehicle for normal use.
Motorcycle Driver License: Issued to drivers who operate a two-wheel vehicle. Guam law requires any motorcycle driver to use a securely fastened safety helmet when operating a motorcycle.
Chauffeur’s Driver License: Issued to employed individuals with a working title as a chauffeur.
Taxi Driver Licenses: Issued to drivers who operate a taxi vehicle. Individuals employed as taxi drivers must be in compliance with Section 11101 of Title 16 Guam Code Annotated.
WRITTEN EXAMINATION SECTION
When you begin to apply for a driver license, you must appear in person before a driver license examiner. The driver license examiner will ask you to fill out an application form consisting of your personal information and identification.
DRIVING EXAMINATION SECTION
- Eye examinations will be administered during the driver examination. If you need any form of glasses, you are required to use those glasses during the examination.
-You will be tested on road signs and traffic signs during the examination.
-You will be tested on your literacy level of English, when you are asked to identify highway traffic signs and directional traffic signs.
-You will be asked to operate a vehicle during the examination. There will be many subjects covered during the driving section of the examination, and you will be graded on the criteria of safety, adherence to traffic laws, and the ability of driving a vehicle.
