Is Ellis Driving Academy certified by the California DMV to offer driver training courses?
Although we include Ellis Driving Academy in our directory of driving schools for Santa Rosa California, we cannot make any assurances about whether or not Ellis Driving Academy is certified by the California DMV.  You should contact Ellis Driving Academy directly and ask them if you are thinking about enrolling in their Santa Rosa California behind-the-wheel training class.
Is it true that my mom or dad can be my driving instructor when I do my behind-the-wheel training instead of a professional driver training school instructor like the ones they have at Ellis Driving Academy?
It depends on what your state's laws are.  You should contact the California DMV or a licensed driving school like Ellis Driving Academy to find out if California allows behind-the-wheel training with a parent.
Do I need to tell Ellis Driving Academy that I need to train with an automatic-shift automobile? I don't know how to drive a stick-shift automobile.
Most new drivers don't know how to operate either a stick-shift OR and automatic-shift automobile!  We recommend that you ask Ellis Driving Academy if you can complete your behind-the-wheel training using an automatic-shift vehicle before you register for their driver training course.
Since I live way out in a rural area where driving on dirt roads and rugged terrain is the norm, will Ellis Driving Academy be able to teach me how to drive in a non-urban environment? Or do they only prepare you for city-driving?
Since you live in a rural area, odds are that any local driving school in your area such as Ellis Driving Academy will want you to be able to drive safely on dirt roads and bumpy terrain.  We recommend that you contact Ellis Driving Academy directly to find out exactly what they offer.
I'm turning 14 in a few weeks. Can I get a learner's permit to drive in California after my 14th birthday?
Most likely, no.  Most states (though not all) have laws which require that you be at least 15 or 15 1/2 before to be eligible to apply for a learner's permit.  Nevertheless, you may wish to contact the California DMV office or a California-certified driving school such as Ellis Driving Academy to find out for certain what the minimum driving age is in your local area.
I live in Santa Rosa California. Does the law say I have to enroll in both a drivers education classroom or online course and a driver training course in order to be fully-licensed here?
