Is Balboa Driving School certified by the California DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses?
Although we include Balboa Driving School in our directory of driving schools for San Diego California, we cannot make any assurances about whether or not Balboa Driving School is licensed by the California DMV.  You should contact Balboa Driving School directly and ask them if you are thinking about registering for their San Diego California driver training class.
Do I have to take a driver training course? Can't my parents just give me my driver training?
There are some states that do allow parents or guardians to provide their teen-aged kids' required driver training in order to obtain a driver's license.  However many states do not allow any type of substitution for taking a professionally-taught driver training course.  We suggest you contact your state's DMV to find out what the laws are in your state regarding behind-the-wheel training.
I have no clue how to drive a manual-shift vehicle. What happens if Balboa Driving School makes me train on a manual-shift vehicle?
Considering the fact you are a brand new driver, you probably don't know much about operating ANY type of vehicle....stick OR automatic!  If you prefer to do your hands-on driver training with an automatic-shift vehicle, you may want to call Balboa Driving School and let them know before you sign up to take their driver training course.  That way you'll know for sure whether Balboa Driving School can accommodate you before you pay them any money.
The area in which I live is mostly undeveloped--very few paved roads and mountains are all around. Will Balboa Driving School be able to teach me how to drive safely on bumpy terrain as well as in a city or town?
Considering that you live in a remote area, chances are excellent that a local driving school like Balboa Driving School will want you to be able to drive safely on unpaved roads and other types of bumpy terrain.  You may wish to contact Balboa Driving School to find out exactly what their behind-the-wheel training course includes before registering for their training course.
Are 14-year-olds permitted to obtain a instruction permit in California?
Although a few states allow teen-agers to begin practicing how to drive at 14, most states have set the minimum age for which to receive an instruction permit at either 15 or 15½.  You will need to contact the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a licensed driving instruction company like Balboa Driving School to find out what the minimum age for driving is in California.
Do I have to complete a San Diego California drivers education classroom course or online course before signing up to take one of Balboa Driving School's behind-the-wheel training courses?
Each state has its own rules, but most states will require first-time drivers to take both a driver training course plus either a defensive driving classroom course (which are about 30 hours in length) or an approved online drivers education course.  You may want to ask Balboa Driving School if they offer one or both programs.
