North Star Driving SchoolFAQ's

How do I know if North Star Driving School is certified by Michigan's DMV to offer driver training courses?
While we do include North Star Driving School's contact information in our driving school directory, we cannot say with certainty as to whether North Star Driving School is licensed by the State of Michigan.  We recommend that you either contact North Star Driving School directly or possibly the Michigan DMV to find out if North Star Driving School is a certified driver training school.
Somebody told me that I can skip out of attending a driver training school if my parents give me behind-the-wheel training instead. Is that permissible in Michigan?
Each state has its own rules regarding behind-the-wheel training.  Some states will allow parentally-supervised behind-the-wheel training as a substitute for enrolling in a behind-the-wheel training course which is taught by a professional driving instructor.  However, not all states allow this.  You should contact the Michigan DMV to find out for sure.
Do you know if North Star Driving School will let me complete my behind-the-wheel training using an automatic-shift vehicle? I don't know anything about using a stick-shift.
Considering you're a brand new driver, you probably don't know a whole lot about driving ANY type of vehicle, be it a stick OR an automatic!  Nevertheless, if you have a preference, you probably should contact North Star Driving School and see if they can accommodate you before signing up to take their behind-the-wheel training course.
What happens to those of us who live in a non-urban area? Will North Star Driving School include instruction on how to drive on dirt roads, mountain roads, and other rugged?
If you live in a remote location, there is a high probability that a local driving school like North Star Driving School will either want--or even be required--to tailor their instruction towards driving safely in your particular locale.
After I turn 14, will I be eligible to obtain my instruction permit so I can begin to learn how to drive?
It depends on which state you live in, however most states unfortunately require you to be at least 15 (or sometimes 15 1/2) before you can be issued a learner's permit.  We suggest that you contact a local driver training school such as North Star Driving School or the Michigan DMV office to learn more about the minimum age requirement for driving in Michigan.
Do I have to take both a drivers education classroom course and a driver training course in Lake City Michigan to get my Michigan driver's license?
The laws vary depending on which state you live in, but most states do require that pre-licensed drivers register for a drivers education classroom course and a behind-the-wheel training course.  You may want to call a driving instruction company like North Star Driving School and find out if they offer either (or both) of these programs.
If I need to enroll in a Lake City Michigan driving school, can North Star Driving School help?
Yes.  North Star Driving School offers behind-the-wheel training courses in Lake City Michigan.  For more information about the type of driver training North Star Driving School offers and the training schedule, you should contact them directly.
What do I need to do to get a driver's license in Lake City Michigan?
It depends on Michigan's laws, but most states require new, teen-aged drivers to register for a safe driving classroom course as well as a driver training course.  You may want to call North Star Driving School to see if they offer the behind-the-wheel training course that would fulfill the regulations set forth by the Michigan DMV.
Am I required to take a Lake City Michigan driver training course?
All drivers in Michigan must take a driver training course.  You should contact North Star Driving School to learn more about the courses they offer.
Can I register for a Michigan-licensed driver training course even if I don't have my Michigan instruction permit yet?
Most likely, no.  Most states have laws that require a pre-licensed driver to have obtained a Michigan instruction permit before registering in a Michigan driver training course.  It would be best for you to contact a driving school such as North Star Driving School and ask for more information.
