DST Assoc.FAQ's

Since DST Assoc. appears on your website, does this mean they are approved by the New York DMV to offer driver training courses?
The list of driver training schools on our webpage is provided as a convenience to our customers only.  We CANNOT guarantee that every single school listed is fully-approved by the New York DMV.  You may want to call DST Assoc. directly to find out if they offer a state-certified behind-the-wheel training course.
Is it true that my mom or dad can be my driving instructor when I do my behind-the-wheel training instead of a professional driver training school instructor like the ones they have at DST Assoc.?
It depends on what your state's laws are.  You should contact the New York DMV or a licensed driving school like DST Assoc. to find out if New York allows driver training with a parent.
Do you know if DST Assoc. will let me complete my behind-the-wheel training using an automatic-shift vehicle? I don't know anything about using a manual-shift.
Considering you're a brand new driver, you probably don't know a whole lot about driving ANY type of vehicle, be it a manual OR an automatic!  Nevertheless, if you have a preference, you probably should contact DST Assoc. and see if they can accommodate you before signing up to take their behind-the-wheel training course.
I live in a small rural town, where there are a lot of small, unpaved roads. Will my driver training with DST Assoc. include being taught how to drive in rural areas? Or do they just offer training for city driving?
Most local driving schools will likely want their students to know how to drive safely in the local area.  Therefore, chances are good that the driver training you receive from DST Assoc. will include handling unpaved roads and mountain driving.
If I'm 14, can I get an instruction permit to drive in New York?
Possibly.  However, you should be aware that most states require you to be at least 15½ years old before you can get an instruction permit.  We recommend that you contact the New York Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a certified driving school such as DST Assoc. to find out exactly what the minimum age requirement is in New York.
I live in Buffalo New York. Does the law say I have to register for both a driver ed classroom or online course and a behind-the-wheel training course in order to be fully-licensed here?
Each state has its own laws in regards to licensing procedures.  However, most states do require that new, teen-aged drivers take both a behind-the-wheel training course plus either a drivers education online course or drivers education classroom course .
I have to take a drivers education course in Buffalo New York. Can I meet this requirement by enrolling in DST Assoc.?
Yes, DST Assoc. offers defensive driving courses in Buffalo New York.  You will need to contact DST Assoc. directly to get more information on the types of courses they offer and when to register for a class.
What steps do I have to take in order to get a New York drivers license in Buffalo New York?
