Preferred Driving SchoolFAQ's

Preferred Driving School's address and phone number is listed on your webpage. How can I find out if it is a licensed behind the wheel training school in Kentucky?
Even though we provide a list of driver training schools on our website, we have no way of knowing for sure as to whether or not a particular school is licensed by the Kentucky DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses.  We strongly suggest that you contact Preferred Driving School directly or check with the Kentucky DMV to find out for sure if Preferred Driving School is a licensed school.
I've been told that either of my parents can monitor my driver training, so I don't have to attend a Florence Kentucky driving school like Preferred Driving School to fulfill my driver training requirement. Do you know if that's true or not?
You will need to contact the Kentucky DMV or a state-approved driving school like Preferred Driving School to find out.  Some states do allow parent-taught driving, but many states do not.
What if I don't know how to drive a vehicle with a stick-shift? Does Preferred Driving School have an automatic-shift vehicle they'll allow me train with?
Since you're just learning how to drive, you probably don't know how to operate either a stick-shift or an automatic-shift vehicle!  However, if you have a preference as to a manual or an automatic, you probably should call Preferred Driving School to see if they can accommodate your request prior to your signing up to take their behind-the-wheel training course.
I live in a remote area, that has a lot of dirt roads and rugged terrain. Will Preferred Driving School teach me how to drive in BOTH city AND rural environments?
If you live in a rural area, chances are very good that a local driving school like Preferred Driving School will want you to be trained in driving specific to the local area's terrain.
If I'm 14, can I get an instruction permit to drive in Kentucky?
Possibly.  However, you should be aware that most states require you to be at least 15½ years old before you can get an instruction permit.  We recommend that you contact the Kentucky Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a licensed driving school such as Preferred Driving School to find out exactly what the minimum age requirement is in Kentucky.
I live in Florence Kentucky. Does the law say I have to successfully complete both a driver ed classroom or online course and a behind-the-wheel training course in order to be fully-licensed here?
Each state has its own laws in regards to licensing procedures.  However, most states do require that new, teen-aged drivers enroll in both a driver training course plus either a drivers education online course or drivers education classroom course .
Kentucky law says that I must enroll in a hands-on driver training course in order to get licensed to drive in Florence Kentucky. Is this something that Preferred Driving School can help me with?
Yes, Preferred Driving School offers the Kentucky-approved driver training course.  For more information about their classes and instruction schedule, please contact Preferred Driving School directly.
What type of driver ed do I need before Kentucky will give me a driver's license?
Each state has its own requirements concerning drivers education, although you should know that most states now mandate all new, young drivers to register for a drivers education classroom or online course as well as a driver training course.  Preferred Driving School may be able to help you fulfill the driver training requirement in Kentucky.  Please contact either Preferred Driving School or the Kentucky DMV for more information.
Is hands-on driver training required in Kentucky in order to be licensed to drive a car?
Absolutely.  All new drivers in Kentucky are required to take an approved hands-on driver training course before they can be issued a license to independently drive a motor vehicle.
Can I sign up to take a Kentucky-approved behind-the-wheel training course even if I don't have my Kentucky instruction permit yet?
Most likely, no.  Most states have laws that mandate a pre-licensed driver to have obtained a Kentucky learners permit before registering in a Kentucky driver training course.  It would be best for you to contact a driving school such as Preferred Driving School and ask for more information.
