Austin Driving SchoolFAQ's

Are all the driving schools listed on your website fully-certified by the Texas DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses in Texas?
The driving school directory on our website is for your convenience only, and we cannot absolutely guarantee that every driving school listed is currently licensed to offer driving training courses in Texas.  We suggest you contact the Texas DMV to make sure a particular driving school is certified before you enroll in their driver training course.
I've been told that either of my parents can monitor my behind-the-wheel training, so I don't have to attend a Pflugerville Texas driving school like Austin Driving School to fulfill my behind-the-wheel training requirement. Do you know if that's true or not?
You will need to contact the Texas DMV or a state-approved driver training school like Austin Driving School to find out.  Some states do allow parent-taught driving, but many states do not.
What if I don't know how to operate a vehicle with a manual-shift? Does Austin Driving School have an automatic-shift vehicle they'll allow me train with?
Since you're just learning how to drive, you probably don't know how to operate either a stick-shift or an automatic-shift vehicle!  However, if you have a preference as to a manual or an automatic, you probably should call Austin Driving School to see if they can accommodate your request prior to your enrolling in their driver training course.
What happens to those of us who live in a rural area? Will Austin Driving School include instruction on how to drive on dirt roads, mountain roads, and other bumpy terrain?
If you live in a rural location, there is a high probability that a local driving school like Austin Driving School will either want--or even be required--to tailor their instruction towards driving safely in your particular locale.
If I'm 14, can I get a driver's permit to drive in Texas?
Possibly.  However, you should be aware that most states require you to be at least 15½ years old before you can get a learner's permit.  We recommend that you contact the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a certified driving school such as Austin Driving School to find out exactly what the minimum age requirement is in Texas.
Am I required to take a Pflugerville Texas classroom or online drivers education course before I can sign up to take a behind-the-wheel training course through Austin Driving School?
This requirement varies from state to state but most states do require pre-licensed drivers to take BOTH a classroom-based defensive driving course (generally 30 hours in length) AND a behind-the-wheel training course.  You should ask Austin Driving School if they offer one or both programs.
