Affordable Driving SchoolFAQ's

Is Affordable Driving School an approved driving school in California?
Just because a driving school appears on our directory of driver training institutions, we cannot guarantee that they are fully licensed to offer hands-on driving courses in California.  We highly recommend that you contact Affordable Driving School directly or the California DMV to find out for sure if Affordable Driving School offers hands-on driving courses that have been approved by the State of California.
Somebody told me that I can skip out of attending a driver training school if my parents give me behind-the-wheel training instead. Is that permissible in California?
Each state has its own laws regarding behind-the-wheel training.  Some states will allow parentally-supervised behind-the-wheel training as a substitute for attending a behind-the-wheel training course which is taught by a professional driving instructor.  However, not all states allow this.  You should contact the California DMV to find out for sure.
What if I don't know how to drive a vehicle with a manual-shift? Does Affordable Driving School have an automatic-shift vehicle they'll let me train with?
Since you're just learning how to drive, you probably don't know how to operate either a manual-shift or an automatic-shift vehicle!  However, if you have a preference as to a manual or an automatic, you probably should call Affordable Driving School to see if they can accommodate your request prior to your signing up to take their driver training course.
I live out in the middle of nowhere. There are rural and mountain roads everywhere. Will Affordable Driving School train me how to drive in BOTH rural AND city areas?
If you live in a rural or mountain area, chances are that a local driving school like Affordable Driving School will include driving lessons specifically tailored to that terrain.
After I turn 14, will I be eligible to get my instruction permit so I can begin to learn how to drive?
It depends on which state you live in, however most states unfortunately require you to be at least 15 (or sometimes 15 1/2) before you can be issued a instruction permit.  We suggest that you contact a local driver training school such as Affordable Driving School or the California DMV office to learn more about the minimum age requirement for driving in California.
Can I take Affordable Driving School's behind-the-wheel training course before taking a San Diego California drivers education classroom course or online course?
It depends on what California's laws say.  However, you should know that most states will require teen-aged, first-time drivers to complete both a defensive driving classroom course (which are approximately 30 hours in length, depending on California's laws) or an approved online course, plus a state-approved behind-the-wheel training course.  We recommend that you contact Affordable Driving School directly to see if they offer either (or both) of these courses.
California's DMV has told me that I need to take a behind-the-wheel training course. Do you know if Affordable Driving School offers this course or not?
Affordable Driving School does offer the behind-the-wheel training course that California requires all new teen-aged drivers to take.  For more information about the courses Affordable Driving School offers, we recommend that you contact Affordable Driving School directly.
What are the requirements in San Diego California for obtaining a drivers license?
It depends on your state's laws, however in many states, teen-agers must complete both a drivers education classroom course and a behind-the-wheel training course.  Affordable Driving School may offer an approved driver training course which you could take.  Please contact Affordable Driving School for information regarding their available classes and how to go about signing up for them.
Is it necessary for me to enroll in a driver training course in order to get my first California driver's license?
Yes, it is.  All teen-aged drivers applying for their first driver's license in California are required to take a state-approved behind-the-wheel training course.
Is it all right if I register with a behind-the-wheel training school like Affordable Driving School prior to my obtaining my instruction permit?
In most states, you are required to have already received your learner's permit before you register for your behind-the-wheel training course like the one offered by Affordable Driving School.  We suggest you contact either Affordable Driving School to find out more information.
