How do I know if Mac's Driving School is certified by California's DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses?
While we do include Mac's Driving School's contact information in our driving school directory, we cannot say with certainty as to whether Mac's Driving School is certified by the State of California.  We recommend that you either contact Mac's Driving School directly or possibly the California DMV to find out if Mac's Driving School is a certified driver training school.
Somebody told me that I can skip out of attending a driver training school if my parents give me behind-the-wheel training instead. Is that permissible in California?
Each state has its own laws regarding driver training.  Some states will allow parentally-supervised behind-the-wheel training as a substitute for attending a behind-the-wheel training course which is taught by a professional driving instructor.  However, not all states allow this.  You should contact the California DMV to find out for sure.
Do you know if Mac's Driving School will let me complete my behind-the-wheel training using an automatic-shift vehicle? I don't know anything about using a stick-shift.
Considering you're a brand new driver, you probably don't know a whole lot about driving ANY type of vehicle, be it a stick OR an automatic!  Nevertheless, if you have a preference, you probably should contact Mac's Driving School and see if they can accommodate you before registering for their driver training course.
The area in which I live is mostly undeveloped--very few paved roads and mountains are all around. Will Mac's Driving School be able to teach me how to drive safely on bumpy terrain as well as in a city or town?
Considering that you live in a remote area, chances are excellent that a local driving school like Mac's Driving School will want you to be able to drive safely on unpaved roads and other types of bumpy terrain.  You may wish to contact Mac's Driving School to find out exactly what their behind-the-wheel training course includes before enrolling in their training course.
Are 14-year-olds eligible to obtain a learner's permit in California?
Although a few states allow teen-agers to begin practicing how to drive at 14, most states have set the youngest age for which to hold an instruction permit at either 15 or 15½.  You will need to contact the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a licensed driving instruction company like Mac's Driving School to find out what the minimum age for driving is in California.

Each state has its own laws in regards to licensing procedures.  However, most states do mandate that new, teen-aged drivers enroll in both a behind-the-wheel training course plus either a drivers education online course or drivers education classroom course .
