Central California Driving SchoolFAQ's

How do I know if Central California Driving School is certified by California's DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses?
While we do include Central California Driving School's contact information in our driving school directory, we cannot say with certainty as to whether Central California Driving School is licensed by the State of California.  We recommend that you either contact Central California Driving School directly or possibly the California DMV to find out if Central California Driving School is a certified driver training school.
Could I just have my mother or father teach me how to drive instead of paying money to enroll in a professional behind-the-wheel training course?
It depends on which state you live in.  There are some states which permit you to do your hands-on driver training with a parent or guardian instead of enrolling in a professional driving school.  However many states require that first-time drivers take a professionally-taught behind-the-wheel training course.  We recommend that you ask your state's DMV office to find out if your parent or guardian can fill the role as your behind-the-wheel driving instructor.
I don't know how to drive using a manual-shift. Will Central California Driving School have an automatic-shift car available that I can use for my behind-the-wheel training?
Since you're enrolling in a Fresno California behind-the-wheel training class, chances are good that you don't know how to drive either a stick-shift OR an automatic!  However, you should let Central California Driving School know what your preference is before enrolling in their driver class.  That way you'll know for sure they will accommodate you.
I live in a small rural community, where there are a lot of small, unpaved roads. Will my driver training with Central California Driving School include learning how to drive in rural areas? Or do they just offer training for urban driving?
Most local driving schools will likely want their students to know how to drive safely in the local area.  Therefore, chances are good that the behind-the-wheel training you receive from Central California Driving School will include handling dirt roads and mountain driving.
Now that I'm 14, will California allow me to get a learner's permit to drive?
Not likely.  Most states require residents to be at least 15 or 15 1/2 years old before applying for a learner's permit.  We recommend that your contact the California DMV office or a California-approved driver training institute such as Central California Driving School to learn more about the minimum driving age requirement in California.
Do I have to complete a Fresno California drivers education classroom course or online course before enrolling in one of Central California Driving School's driver training courses?
Each state has its own laws, but most states will require first-time drivers to take both a driver training course plus either a drivers education classroom course (which are about 30 hours in length) or an approved online drivers education course.  You may want to ask Central California Driving School if they offer one or both programs.
California's DMV has told me that I need to take a behind-the-wheel training course. Do you know if Central California Driving School offers this course or not?
Central California Driving School does offer the driver training course that California requires all new teen-aged drivers to take.  For more information about the courses Central California Driving School offers, we recommend that you contact Central California Driving School directly.
What steps do I have to take in order to get a California drivers license in Fresno California?
Most states require that teen-agers who are applying for their first driver's license complete both a safe driving classroom course and a driver training course.  Central California Driving School may be able to help you fulfill the behind-the-wheel training portion in California.  Please contact Central California Driving School for more information.

What are the laws in California concerning driver training courses? Do I have to take one to get my driver's license?
Yes, you do.  California law states that new drivers enroll in an approved behind-the-wheel training course as a prerequisite to getting their first driver's license.
Do I need to have my learner's permit before I sign up to take a driver training course like the one that Central California Driving School offers?
You will need to contact Central California Driving School or the California DMV to find out if you are allowed to sign up with a driving school like Central California Driving School before receiving your California learner's permit.
