Driver Awareness TrainingFAQ's

Is Driver Awareness Training licensed by the New York DMV to offer driver training courses?
Although we include Driver Awareness Training in our directory of driving schools for Rochester New York, we cannot make any assurances about whether or not Driver Awareness Training is certified by the New York DMV.  You should contact Driver Awareness Training directly and ask them if you are thinking about registering for their Rochester New York driver training class.
Do you know if I can do my behind-the-wheel training with my mother or father instead of attending a driving school like Driver Awareness Training?
Some states allow teen-agers to complete their behind-the-wheel training with their parents instead of attending a professional driving school.  We recommend that you contact the New York DMV or Driver Awareness Training directly to find out if New York allows parent-taught driver training.
Do you know if Driver Awareness Training will let me take my driver training using an automatic-shift vehicle? I don't know anything about using a manual-shift.
Considering you're a brand new driver, you probably don't know a whole lot about driving ANY type of vehicle, be it a stick OR an automatic!  Nevertheless, if you have a preference, you probably should contact Driver Awareness Training and see if they can accommodate you before registering for their driver training course.
I live in a very remote area, where there are mountains and a lot of unpaved roads. Do you know if Driver Awareness Training teaches students how to drive in rural areas like where I live instead of just driving on smooth, paved roads in urban areas?
Since you live in a remote area, a local driving school such as Driver Awareness Training will tailor your driver training to handle the conditions in your area.
After I turn 14, will I be eligible to get my learner's permit so I can begin to learn how to drive?
It depends on which state you live in, however most states unfortunately require you to be at least 15 (or sometimes 15 1/2) before you can be issued a instruction permit.  We suggest that you contact a local driver training school such as Driver Awareness Training or the New York DMV office to learn more about the minimum age requirement for driving in New York.
Is taking a drivers education course in a classroom or online sufficient in Rochester New York or do I also have to take a driver training class with a professional driving instructor?
It depends on what the New York's laws require, but many states do mandate that new, young drivers to enroll in a driver training class with a professional driving instructor as well as a drivers education classroom or online course.
New York's DMV has told me that I need to take a driver training course. Do you know if Driver Awareness Training offers this course or not?
