Unsupervised driving rules With a learner's permit, the first 6 months you must drive with a licensed driver/supervisor. During the second 6 months, you may drive unsupervised between 6am and 10pm.
Passenger rules With a learner's permit, you may drive with only 1 passenger (other than the driving supervisor)
Other After completing the behind-the-wheel portion of driver education, a student who is at lease 15 yrs and 10 months may apply for a Driver Education Learner Permit. This allows the student to drive while supervised. Upon successful completion of driver education and both the road and written tests, the student receives a Level 1 Permit. For six months, driving is allowed only when supervised. During this time, only 2 passengers are allowed in addition to the supervising driver. After six months, the Level 1 Permit is the equivalent of an intermediate driver license. Driver License applicants younger than age 18 must have held a Level 1 Permit for at least 12 months. Driver education is required for all license applicants under 18.
