Colorado Driver License Requirements at-a-glance:

*Driver education is required for teens under the age of 16.
*You must be at least 15½-years-old to receive a learning permit through online ed.
*You must use your learner’s permit for at least 12 months by applying for your driver’s license.
*Until you’re 16 you can only drive with an authorized instructor.
*You need to log 50 hours of practice driving with 10 hours at night.
*With a Minor Instruction Permit (between ages 16 and 21) you can only drive with a licensed driver who is over 21-years-old.
*Your learner’s permit will expire after 3 years.
*If you’re under 18, you can’t have a passenger under 21 until you’ve had your license for at least 6 months.

Step 1: Signup and take an approved online Colorado drivers ed class.
Step 2: Successfully complete the online course all the way through the final exam.
Step 3: Now that you have your Certificate of Completion, head to a local DMV office and take their official exam. No need to worry. Our online course will have prepared you for everything you’ll encounter.
Step 4: Pass the written DMV test and get your Colorado learner’s permit. Now you can get behind the wheel with a licensed instructor, parent, or legal guardian with a Colorado license to continue your education.
Step 5: Practice driving and don’t forget to log all of your hours.
Step 6: Take the DMV road and vision test, and if you pass, you’ll get your Colorado license!
